Ideas For a Retro 50's/60's Style Kitchen! I already have had everything in silver/chrome & want to update
in a few months i will be tiling the kitchen wall, im thinking black and white tiles on one wall. My fridge freezer, cooker, washing machine & dishwasher are all silver. I am thinking of brightening up the kitchen with new funky accessories. Kettle/toaster etc need renewing anyway and i would like to make it more colourful but still keeping a diner style look. I like delonghi products. What else like that?

- Have a look on Ebay, but bright red stuff looks cool with black and white and gives it a funky twist!
- have a look in next. they have retro kitchen stuff. red seems to be the in colour at the moment.
- Hmm, get the lakeland catalogue. They've got really funky accessories like multicoloured sieves/ strainers etc... I'd stick to the 50's look as opposed to the sixties, it's a lot more retro in the 'diner' sense.
- Ginny's catalog, has some really cool kitchen accessories it bright colors that would go right along with a retro styled kitchen.
- old coke products, would look great
- buy lots Coca-cola things (napkin dispenser, S&P shakers, dish towels, clock, etc) to add pops of red. And Coke is *very* retro diner. Here's some other great colorful diner inspired artwork that you can use: http://homedecorators30.artselect.com/perl/search?titleOrKeywordsOrArtist=diner&t=b&dateToday=2007-09-20
- Diner style wall plaques look good and anything red for a 50/60's kitchen. Look on Ebay, loads of retro Kitchen-alia on there. Hope this helps

- Replace the doors with pale blue high gloss flat doors.
- black and red go well together
- I.m like most of the other people,I think red would look good. Also go to yard sales, thrift stores or antique stores to pick up a few cool knick-knacks for a small price. Coke memorabilia is a good idea also. You might even find an old or reproduction crank telephone or table top juke box selector.I know you can still get the silver napkin dispensers but finding the napkins might be difficult unless you go to a restaurant supply house.Whatever you do, have fun!
- My kitchen is done in red , black and white . Black and white tiles , on the floor , the walls are done in white , with red trim . The back splash behind my stove is done in stainless steel , like that in a dinner . My dining room is a 50's style dinner . red & black chairs , glass and chrome table I am investing in 1950's stove and a refridgerator . Most of my decorations are signs and Coca Cola trays I bought at an auction . I'm proud of muself on my design , since I have been dong this for 14 years , now , it's coming together !
- gingham or checkered linens! red and white, black and white! very cool. also add a canister set, you can get some gorgeous metal sets, and a bread box to match! recently saw a set in ivory with the words in a choice of red or green or blue or black. get your small appliances in black! very cool and adds a punch! if you want color use it in small things like your tea towels, tablecloth, oven mitts, - things you can change without breaking the bank! your kitchen sounds great! i hope you really enjoy it! btw when you get around to tiling, do the majority of tiles in white, with either the top row in black tiles, and/or just the odd black tile here and there. much more than that and you will get tired of it really quick!
- Keep it simple; put in retro diner stools, pink/red accessories, put up retro pictures like old American diners.
