What are some kitchen items which can give me molten potassium?
I want to try the gummy bear experiment, the one where you drop the gummy into the molten potassium to hear him sing. I need molten potassium though, what kitchen items have this? I thought about boiling a bannana, but I don't think this has enough pure potassium to render a reaction.

- Is this the gummy bear experiment you are referring to? http://sciencehack.com/videos/view/4376433037022171750 I guess you could call the sound of the gasses escaping as the gummy bear is quickly burned up “singing”. You do not need molten Potassium for this. Besides being difficult to obtain and incredibly dangerous (Potassium can cause an explosion when coming into contact with water), Potassium is a reducing agent…and you need an oxidizing agent to burn the gummer bear (since the gummy bear is made of sugar…which will act as the reducing agent). What this experiment requires is molten Potassium Chlorate; the Chlorate ion makes all the difference. Potassium Chlorate (KClO3) is a strong oxidizing agent. The very hot, molten, KClO3 can quickly react with the sugar in the gummy bear, combusting it, and form Carbon Dioxide and steam. Potassium Chlorate is not something you would likely have in your kitchen or something you could easily find in the super market. It is possible to make it yourself using readily available chemicals, but that is beyond the scope of this question. It might be easiest to obtain it through some chemical supplier in small quantities so that you may use it responsibly for demonstrations.
