Is track lighting bright enough for a kitchen?
The mount we have doesn't give enough light. I really don't like flourescent, so I'm looking for something pretty but bright. Thanks!

- Track lighting is pretty cool. Hopefully you have some natural light in your kitchen too.
- if you have a window or 2 in the kitchen, it should be fine. what would be really cool is if you put like ceiling fans up (for when it gets smoky/steamy) and then put track lighting under the top cup boards so you have better lighting when you're cutting things up and such. thats what we have and i LOVE it.
- In addition to track lighting.....why don't you add under the counter lighting. It certainly helps the work areas on countertops. The fixture is hidden to the eye. Most under the counter lighting has a dim and bright level.
- Track lighting can give you great lighting if installed in the right area. You can direct the heads of the fixtures to shine where you need the most light. For something a little more fashionable take a look at monorail lighting. You can choose different heads to give you different looks. Check out a company called Tech Lighting. They have lots of options for you. Monorail lighting also only needs one source of power...what that really means to you is that no matter where the power in your ceiling is you can shape the monorail to put the lighting wherever you want it in the room. It's pretty cool! I have also used George Kovacs for monorail lighting that is really affordable and looks great. Lots of restaurants use it and I've put it into several designer homes.
