Kitchen Ideas Faqs

how can I remove a fluorescent light bulb from a kitchen ceiling light?

The problem is that I can twist the bulbs out, but the fixture is surrounded by crown moulding which comes about 1 1/2 " in. Once the bulb is removed from the socket there is no way to get the bulb out of the fixture. A metal divider prevents getting any angle on the bulb to be able to angle it out. I have not been able to figure out any way to remove the crown moulding surrounding the fixture. A similar fixture is seems to be manufactured by brodwax. This is the primary lighting source in my kitchen (no windows) so hopefully someone can help.

  1. you may very well have to remove one piece of the molding, its probily has chalking and maybe a screw or nail holdind it. start in a end and try to pry out a little at a time and that should enable you to get it pried out enough oryou may have to totally remove it to get you tbe out..
  2. There has got to be a way; somebody must have put it in to begin with. Manufacturers do not ship them with bulbs installed. What purpose does the metal divider serve? Can you take it out?
  3. there has got to be a way- the molding probably comes off- when you get it off make sure you buy a high quality bulb and also replace both at the same time- just so you don't have to go through this again
  4. I would guess the molding comes off if it is part of the fixture and not just something installed by a joe handyman type. No fixture will be made without a way to change lamps.
